Sports Medicine Division

Sports Medicine provides opportunities for medical students, residents, and fellows to learn about primary care sports medicine with an emphasis on musculoskeletal medicine. In addition to treating acute and chronic musculoskeletal complaints, we offer more advanced learning opportunities in biomechanics and orthotics, and advanced procedural techniques using ultrasound.

The Sports Medicine Division has made extensive efforts to provide curriculum that is enjoyable and educational for our learners. Learning opportunities include:

Sports Medicine Fellowship

  • Work with NCAA Division I athletes and community athletes
  • Learn advanced diagnostic ultrasound and injection techniques
  • Biomechanically evaluate patients and fashion custom orthotics
  • Weekly didactics covering musculoskeletal and sports medicine topics

  • 1-3 residents are selected to enter the track from each residency class
  • As schedules permit, they have a weekly sports medicine continuity clinic
  • As schedules permit, attend weekly didactics
  • Goal is to progress to independent community sports medicine coverage

Sports Medicine Rotation
