The Department of Family Medicine at East Carolina University, one of the founding departments of the Brody School of Medicine, is seeking full-time faculty for the following positions:
Academic Physician (3 Vacancies)
The Department of Family Medicine, Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University, is seeking a board certified/board eligible Family Medicine physician at the rank/title of Clinical Assistant Professor/Assistant Professor, Clinical Associate Professor/Associate Professor, or Clinical Professor/Professor (title/rank is commensurate with experience) for a fixed term or tenure track position. The successful candidate will join a well-established medical practice comprised of leading divisions in residency education, medical student education, sports medicine, geriatrics, and research.
The faculty member will participate in the teaching, mentoring, advising, and supervision of residents, medical students, and other learners; will provide medical care to patients in the inpatient and outpatient settings; and will participate in various scholarly endeavors. On call responsibilities will be assigned for regular schedule and designated holidays on a rotating basis.
Required: MD or DO from an appropriately accredited institution. Board certified or board eligible in Family Medicine. Licensed or License eligible in North Carolina.
Preferred: Clinical practice experience
Rural Residency Academic Physician (2 Vacancies)
The Department of Family Medicine, Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University, is seeking a board certified/board eligible Family Medicine physician at the rank/title of Clinical Assistant Professor/Assistant Professor, Clinical Associate Professor/Associate Professor, or Clinical Professor/Professor (title/rank is commensurate with experience) for a fixed term or tenure track position. The successful candidate will join a well-established medical practice comprised of leading divisions in residency education, medical student education, sports medicine, geriatrics, and research.
These faculty positions would require commitment to training standard program residents and rural program residents in the urban and rural environments. The majority of time will be spent at the urban center of Greenville, NC. Faculty will have precepting, inpatient and outpatient clinical responsibilities, administrative, and didactic responsibilities at the urban site. Approximately 1-2 days per week would be spent at one of the three rural sites listed above. All work at rural sites will be precepting in the rural continuity clinic and didactic/administrative roles, and each rural site has 9 assigned residents. The flexible structure of this new rural family medicine program provides an opportunity to enhance a diverse array of special interests, including evidence-based medicine, PI/QI, underserved populations, procedures, geriatrics, women’s health, pediatrics, international missions, physician leadership, and more. We are seeking candidates with passion and enthusiasm for teaching full-scope family medicine in both urban and rural environments. Geriatrics Faculty Physician (2 Vacancies)
The Department of Family Medicine, Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University, is seeking a board certified/board eligible Family Medicine physician with additional qualifications in Geriatrics at the rank/title of Clinical Assistant Professor/Assistant Professor, Clinical Associate Professor/Associate Professor, or Clinical Professor/Professor (title/rank is commensurate with experience) for a fixed term or tenure track position. The successful candidate will join a well-established medical practice comprised of leading divisions in residency education, medical student education, sports medicine, geriatrics, and research.
The faculty member will participate in the teaching, mentoring, advising, and supervision of Family Medicine residents, Geriatric fellows, medical students, and other learners; will provide medical care to patients in the Monk Geriatric Ambulatory clinic, Family Medicine Center, ECU Health Medical Center, and one continuing care community with skilled care beds; and will participate in various scholarly endeavors.
Required: MD or DO from an appropriately accredited institution. Board certified or board eligible in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine (American Board of Medical Specialties). CAQ in Geriatrics or CAQ Eligible. Licensed in North Carolina or license eligible.

Geriatrics Division Director (1 Vacancy)
The Department of Family Medicine, Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University is seeking a board-certified Family Medicine or Internal Medicine physician with additional qualifications in Geriatrics and Palliative Care for a fixed term or tenure track academic leadership position at the rank/title of Clinical Assistant Professor or higher (rank is commensurate with experience). The successful candidate will join a well-established medical practice comprised of leading divisions in residency education, medical student education, sports medicine, geriatrics, and research.
This position will serve as the Geriatric Division Director, establishing a vision, building the division, and leading clinical, teaching and research activities in the Geriatric Division. The Division Director will serve as a member of the department’s senior leadership team and will set the course for Geriatrics and participate in other department initiatives. The Division Director will lead and supervise faculty in the Geriatrics Division within the Department of Family Medicine, while also serving as a faculty physician to include: participating in the teaching, mentoring, advising, and supervision of residents, fellows, medical students, and other learners; providing medical care to patients in the Monk Geriatric Ambulatory clinic, ECU Health Medical Center, and one continuing care community with skilled care beds; and participating in various scholarly endeavors.
